2016 is going to be ours

This past year wasn't at all a rewarding one for me. Some could say it was the worst, however, I still finished the year happy with the few things I accomplished.

If you're like me, you're determined to improve in 2016. Believe me, you're not alone on this. I feel like everyone always looks forward to the New Year because they see it as a new chapter in their life: the chance to do all the things they didn't in the past year. Let's be honest, most people fail at it. Some people promise to do (or stop doing) things they're not yet ready for.

One could say I'm not a big 'New years Resolutions' fan. If I want to do something, I'll do it the next day. I had always been the kind of girl that said "maybe tomorrow" until I realized that my 'tomorrow' had been a few years ago, and I was still eating and doing the same things over and over again. I was unhappy. 

This is not to say that I don't have goals in life, I do. But the notion of 'Resolutions' and 'Goals' are a bit different in my book. I am a believer in wanting to achieve something. Having small steps on my check list that will allow me to grow up and to self improve.

Instead of giving things up, consider investing in yourself and doing something that makes you proud of who you are.

Most people will be looking to make a list of things they want to change in hopes that when you finish 2016, you won't have the same annoying and nagging feeling of 'I wish I had done this' or 'I wish I had done that', or even 'I could have done better'. I think these are all thoughts that haunt every single on of us.

These are things I want to achieve in 2016. Small steps to happiness.

 #1: Spend less money on futile things. Save money so I can invest in my own blog. (But keep on buying books, they make you happy, yeah?).
 #2: Keep working towards loving myself. (Invest in yourself instead of on others).
#3: Depend less on my phone. (Live before life slips away from you).
#4: Make more to do lists. (You're always way more productive when you do them).
#5: Say no more often. (If you don't want something, don't say yes. You'll end up sighing your way through it. People can't read your mind).
#6: Also say yes more often. (To the right things. You want that cupcake? Eat that cupcake. You want to go bunging jumping. You do that too - just be careful).
#7: Travel more. (I know I said I want to save money. But it's traveling. What can I do?).
#8: Be proud of who you have become. (You've come a long way, don't you forget that).
#10: Try atleast one more thing a month. (You're picky with food. Stop. Also, try crossfit like you've been wanting to try. No one's going to eat you up if you do).
#11: Surround yourself with the right people. (Negative people attract negative feelings).
#12: Take risks. (Failing is okay, but you'll never know if you don't try. Trust yoursself. New experiences are great).
#13: Learn something new. (html? Sounds like fun. Yay).
#14: Start working as a volunteer. (Other people need you, even if you don't know it yet).

Also - I know my list is a bit long, but you don't need a big one. You could have one single goal for 2016 - to be happy. And guess what? That's okay. That's mine too. I just want to achieve it in small steps. Plus it's fun.

I know it's going to be the best year yet. We're going to own it together.

  1. Just like you, I never was big on New Years Resolutions, I always figured I´d start right now if I really wanted something. But sometimes a fixed date is what you need to stop and reevaluate what is going wrong/making you unhappy.
    So here is to an amazing 2016. We will own it together!

  2. That's true! Sometimes all people need is a little push and to set their minds that they really need/want to do said thing. But I feel that it's much easier to set your mind on things that'll allow you to self improve. And much more important. Being happy is so important, and sometimes so difficult too.

    Yes we will. 2016 is waiting for us. It's going to be our year.
